-Detroit marathon 2006 - 4:24:44

-Olympus 44k 3000m ultra marathon - 10:22 

Short-Term Running Goals:

I am hoping to improve my marathon time to at least 4:15 or even 4 hours for my next marathon in Detroit on October 18 and eventually train harder next summer in order to qualify for the Boston marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Some day I would love to tell my grandkids I did Boston, maybe New York or even an Ironman....

Personal:

Not married, no kids, am a teacher so have summers off for training but just finished my first year and was too spent to really train as hard as I might have liked this summer.

Trained at gym out of town - unfamiliar machine.  Was supposed to do 4 sub-8min miles with 1 warm and 1 cool but machine lost distance at about 4 miles.  Guessing did about 4.2 8 min miles and (7.5/hr) the rest at 6.6-7 mph.

Track workout - 5 800m repeats at 4:20 with 800m each warmup and cool down - ran a little faster, think am capable of more but not bad for first time out.

Yoga at daybreak - approx 1 hour 

Why am I gaining weight?  Hope it's muscle, will mind calorie intake better.
